U12s End of Season Glamping Trip
On the 16th of September the U12 Junior Wheatmen traded footy boots for waterskis and headed to Boondooma Dam for the annual ‘End of Season Trip’. After a big year, it was a fitting way to rest the bodies, let their hair down and partake in some watersports.
After an early start, we arrived by lunchtime to unpack our bags in the “Bunkhouse”. This donga style accommodation was the perfect fit for the team, complete with fire pit and all the amenities – we really were Glamping.
Then it was off to take on the water. Mr Wise’s tube seemed to be the ride of choice, with its four person capacity it was a thrill a minute for the boys, not to mention a lot of laughs for the Dads.
The day ended with a BBQ dinner around the fire and some reminiscing about the season that was. We all slept soundly that evening despite some serious snoring from the boys!
The highlight of the trip had to be the four brave boys who took on the infamous “Boondooma Burger” for Lunch on Sunday. This truly was a case of Man Vs Food, as this three meat pattie with the works stood at least 15cm on the table. Happy to report Man 3, Food 1.
Finally a big thank you to all of those within our team and the club as a whole who have supported me throughout several years coaching the boys. I have enjoyed the time and look forward to watching the boys from the sidelines in the future. A special mention also to our Mothers whose fundraising efforts contributed to our 2017 TAS tour to Armidale and who have supported us tirelessly over the years.
Go the Mighty Wheatmen!
