Celebrating another successful season

Nearly 200 players, supporters, spouses and sponsors packed the Dalby Showgrounds on Saturday night to celebrate the Dalby Rugby Union Club’s successful 2017 season. As back-to-back Risdon Cup Premiers in the Downs Rugby Competition the club had plenty to revel in and player awards were going to be competitive.

Following pre-dinner refreshments and the Club President’s address by Roger Lyne, the individual grade awards got underway with the Women’s Sevens, C Grade, B Grade and A Grade awards announced. The club then recognised their premiership winning A Grade side with a jersey presentation. Downs Rugby Chair Mike Horan was on hand to acknowledge the club on its Downs Rugby Awards including Club Champions, Minor Premiers in A and B Grade, Best and Fairest Player (Sam Hogarth), Top Point Scorer (Dan Merker), Ambulance Shield, Player of the Final (Sam Hogarth) and the Risdon Cup trophy. The night then proceeded to the anticipated club awards with A Grade Captain Sam Hogarth receiving the Frank Edgar Memorial Trophy for Most Outstanding Player in 2017.
